Lacking a strong contender from the Chub Feeney League, the Minnesota Twins easily won the Bud Selig West. The best Chub Feeney League club in this mix, the St. Louis Cardinals, were only a .500 club in the Bud Selig West.

The Minnesota Twins won the Bud Selig West pretty easily, as they did not face a strong contender from the National League.
The closest team to the Twins was the Texas Rangers, who finished third in the Joe Cronin League at 4½ games behind the Twins, but took second in the Bud Selig West, 5½ games behind Minnesota. The head-to-head games between the Twins and Rangers were especially telling in both races. The Twins won seven of the 10 meetings between the two clubs.
The St. Louis Cardinals were the best National League team in the Bud Selig West, but they finished only .500 in the league (32-32).
